R. Carow, AIA Principal, Design Architect |

|
Mr. Carow has been the design principal in Chicago architectural and planning firms for thirty years. His architectural interests, begun in his studies at IIT, under Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and MIT, in his early years in the U.S. Peace Corps, and in his working with inner-city communities, have been to provide strong design solutions based on sensible and economic use of materials and current technology. His commitment to understanding needs allows him to develop responsive architectural solutions. His academic teaching, research, and curricula writing has in a similar way centered on understanding the historic continuum of architecture, the technological possibilities of our era, and fulfilling the need for functionally and spiritually appropriate spaces. His project experience includes the design of single story to high-rise office buildings, multi-unit housing developments, educational facilities from day care to university, commercial and corporate interiors, historic restoration and reuse, and public buildings of all types. |
